  • Teaching first aid courses for The American Red Cross,
  • Serving as a volunteer firefighter and paramedic in Philadelphia and its suburbs, and more recently,
  • Serving on the Somerset County Business Partnership's Environmental Health & Safety Chamber, and
  • Helping the Princeton and Raritan Valley Chapters of Habitat for Humanity to build affordable home for Partner families.

A Tribute to My Father-in-Law and Our Other Brave Men & Women in Uniform

In June of 2009, my father-in-law passed away.  As a captain and a pharmacist in the U.S. Army, he served in Europe during WWII, and continued his dedication to our veterans in the VA Medical Center System after being honorably discharged.  In his honor, I made a case for his flag and another for his medals and insignias.

However you may feel about our military or its involvement in World affairs, the members of our armed forces do their best to accomplish their mission, usually under difficult circumstances, based on orders from our elected officials.  As I have done here, they deserve our honor and support.  Rest well, Dad.

Helping to Rebuild Along the Gulf Coast

In 2005, Hurricane Katrina first came ashore in Bay St. Louis, MS.  Lives have still not returned to normal.

During the week of November 10, 2008, BucksMont Katrina Relief, in conjunction with CityTeam (cityteam.org), sponsored The Hillsborough- based Artisans Group and other four member companies of the Central NJ Chapter of the National Association of the Remodeling Industry (cjnari.org), plus eight companies from BucksMont (PA) and Chicago NARI for a week of rebuilding homes and a community food center from Bay St. Louis to Carriere, MS.  In April of 2009, we have been honored with the Bucks County (PA) Chamber of Commerce's 2009 Humanitarian Award.   Read more...

Benefit for Raritan Valley Habitat for Humanity

The Raritan Valley Chapter's 3rd annual dinner was held on Saturday, April 26, 2008 at Dolce, in Basking Ridge.  The evening included a cocktail hour, dinner, live and silent auctions, and a performance by renowned Flamenco dance troupe, Danzas Espanolas.

The Artisans Group and Royce Brook Golf Club donated a round of golf and lunch for four as a silent auction item that drew $450 to benefit this wonderful cause.

HOPE STARTS WITH YOU!

On behalf of the American Cancer Society, breast cancer patients and their families throughout Northwest New Jersey, thank you for the wonderful support you and Mary’s Somerset Business Striders gave to the 11th annual Making Strides Against Breast Cancer event on Sunday, October 21. Your incredible team effort raised $1,735 toward defeating breast cancer. Not to mention the generous sponsorship of the Refreshment Tent by Ed Seliga and Advanced Solar Products, which adds another $1,000 to the effort generated by the Partnership.

The beautiful weather together with the participation and enthusiasm of over 7,500 walkers made the day inspiring and fun and enabled us to raise $750,000 for breast cancer research, education, advocacy, and patient services. Hundreds of survivors were recognized and many loved ones were remembered throughout the day with personal messages on signs and shirts at the walk.  We hope Mary enjoyed the day and felt the caring commitment from her friends and colleagues. Our Division, which is comprised of the states of New Jersey and New York, raised over $17 million through the efforts of 223,423 participants.

We could not have done it without you!

Thanks to you, Making Strides Against Breast Cancer was a huge success. Together we will continue to make positive steps in the fight against breast cancer.  We look forward to seeing you and your team again at Making Strides Against Breast Cancer on Sunday, October 19, 2008 in Parsippany!  Thank you again for your caring generosity!

Sincerely,

Carol
