Replace
Windows, Cedar Shakes, and Trim
Our
clients wanted more energy efficiency from their
windows, so we worked with them to pick Andersen 400 Series casement windows
with a U-Value of 0.28. The dining room window also includes
Andersen's "TruScene" screens and their "Frank Lloyd Wright®
Series" art glass. The replacements also required new cedar
shakes in a staggered pattern, which called for a bit more attention to
detail...but that's the fun part! The
National Fenestration Rating Council (NFRC)
defines U-Factor as a measure of heat loss through the glazing unit. Thanks
again to Certa-Pro Painters for their awesome support and helping us to make another client
happy!

This was
interesting, and unfortunately too typical...We found that the original
installer of the existing sliding door had failed to properly support
"point loads." We exposed the framing, installed blocking
to carry the load to the sill, repaired the sole plate and the buckled
sheathing, and replaced the shakes in the area. |

Approximately 24
square feet of new shakes (darker with new stain) cover repaired
sheathing. With proper maintenance, they now have a better chance of
remaining intact. |

We
replicated this design for our client's new window casing that they
found in "The Family Handyman - Nov., 2003". It
surely does complement their style!
