WORKSHOP

(Construction Chuckles for the Day)

This is not a “Handy Man’s” reference book.  [DO NOT] feel free to use any of the ideas.
Not responsible for fires, flooding, electrocutions, shootings, or divorces.

This is a bathroom outlet.  Some people believe in those Ground Fault Circuit Interrupters.  But they just take up a lot of space and cost too much!

Here's another brilliant idea: Keep the supply & return registers close together so the air can flow freely back to the furnace.  The house seems a little chilly and the furnace keeps running.

A radiator hose from a 1945 Pontiac can be used to replace piping leading into the main drain stack.

Here you have your basic downspout planter, with an attractive— and healthy—sword fern contrasting nicely with the red window trim.  You, too, can have one of these beautiful planters.  It's self watering!

Like lots of light when taking a shower? Add an ‘open’ light fixture on the ceiling.  It’s also handy to have the light switch close by.

On one hand, it saves cutting a hole in the roof.  On the other hand...breathe exhaust fumes, anyone?

If you have a broken framing member in your attic, use the all-purpose structural repair kit — duct tape!

It’s a good idea to connect all drain pipes before using the bathtub..

What to do when you don't have access to a cement mixer, stones, or a skilled mason...

This is one of those new continuously adjustable angle brackets.

The inspector said something about putting up some flashing.  Flashing—who needs flashing?!?

If you’re not going to build your chimney above your roof line, be sure to fireproof the siding with a metallic paint.

If your plumbing job looks like this, you might want to draw a map.

Rain gutter capped on both ends? Shouldn’t you have at least one downspout??

"But Mr. Electrical Inspector, the book said that the wires have to be in an electrical work box." That course was supposed to be "Creative Writing", not "Creative Wiring".

This trap is used to prevent the kind of sewer gasses that flow to the left from getting into the building.

The holes were necessary to allow the rain water that was overflowing the gutter to drain.

"We don't need no xxxxx-in' circuit breakers!" 3 questions...
  1. Buy shorter nails?
  2. Use longer nails and cut them?
  3. Leave nails too long for use as coat hooks?

Those pipes sticking out of the roof were made for a future antenna!

Someone placed the pedestal sink in front of the electrical shutoff because it is unsightly.  Let's count the code violations...

...but they held me when my leg broke...
